Practice Policies
ACTIVE CLIENT POLICY
To remain an Active Client, each horse must receive a wellness examination at least once every 12 months. Maintaining Active Client status allows us to:
Provide prescription refills when medically appropriate
Maintain a valid Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR)
Offer after-hours emergency services for established clients
Annual examinations ensure we can provide safe, effective, and up-to-date medical care for your horse. Please note that an annual Coggins Test does not constitute a wellness exam.
NON ACTIVE CLIENT EMERGENCY REQUEST
Emergency services for clients who do not have Active Client status are not guaranteed. The on-call veterinarian will determine whether emergency care can be provided based on availability and existing commitments to active clients. During periods of high demand, priority is given to established active clients.
HCP VISITS: NO TAG-A-LONGS POLICY
One of the benefits of being a HCP member is the waived farm fee during HCP visits.
To that end, in January 2024 we clarified our policy that Non-HCP clients or patients scheduled during the same farm visit as an HCP member will be charged a standard farm call fee. Farm call fees may be shared among multiple non-HCP clients or patients seen at the same location.
